Grand Tour Society began as a notebook — a collection of places, routes and encounters that no guidebook had ever captured. Seven years later, it's become the resource we always wished existed.
A Different Kind of Travel Company
Grand Tour Society was founded in 2019 by Edward Harrington, a former art historian and travel writer who spent a decade documenting the overlooked corners of European culture. Frustrated by the gap between what travel companies offered and what genuinely curious travellers wanted, he set out to build something different.
The name is a nod to the 18th-century Grand Tour — the rite of passage that sent young aristocrats across Europe to absorb its art, architecture and ideas. We believe that spirit of deep, purposeful travel is more relevant than ever.
Today, Grand Tour Society is a small, dedicated team of researchers, writers and local specialists. We don't operate coaches or book hotels in bulk. We build knowledge — and share it with people who know how to use it.
